Acknowledgements

So I have 3 out of 4 acknowledgements from Aberdeen, Dundee and Leicester, but by the sounds of it Leeds don't give any acknowledgement so I can give up waiting on those, and begin 'waiting stage part2'.
Fingers crossed the next I hear from any of my choices is an interview.

I am sooooo excited about all of this, I am trying to contain myself as I don't want to be left disappointed in the end, but it really is hard to control my enthusiasm right now :D
I was brought down ever so slightly today though when I realised a written assessment deadline I thought was for the 15th of Novemeber is infact for the 8th. Ahhh panic. Better hit the books... Legal and Ethical Issues here I come!! (Good practice for ethics questions at interview ;)  )

5 Months On...

Life has been hectic to say the least.
I'll get round to posting about it soon. Just a quick update really.
I am now a Medical Applicant wooooooop :D

I decided to go for [in no particular order, well except alphabetical];
Aberdeen
Dundee
Leeds
Leicester

I'm very happy with the choices I have made. UKCAT wasn't great, so it knocked my confidence a little, but I will be over the moon to get just one interview and the opportunity to show them in person why they should choose me!!

Eleven + Eight

So I have my degree BSc Midwifery. I have 11 more weeks of practice placement (+ eight shifts to make up from sickness absence) and then i'll be qualified and on the NMC register. For the next year i'll be part time distance learning from my university to gain the '(hons)' part that I so desperately need.

I've gained some more work experience but i'll post about that later. It was awesome
I've got an informal interview for my Chemistry Higher and UKCAT in August. I'm hoping to have my medicine application all sorted by the end of Sept.

Just need to work on getting a part-time job now.

The End is Nigh

I've finished all of my essays for Midwifery- I have one more OSCE until I qualify in less than 5 months!!

As for honours, I still have a while to go in that- I'm on the middle of the second module for it and I have 3 more to go (one being the year long dissertation module beginning after I qualify).
Exam in 4 days, I think it will be difficult.

I've applied for a chmeistry course beginning in August, one evening a week, so that I will have Chem to Higher level as I only took it to Standard Grade... I also really need an update on it anyway- it was never my best subject by a mile. Having a not-so-good at teaching, lazy teacher didn't help either though.

So much to do, so little time. I wish I had Bernard's Watch ha

Happy New Year!

Haven't posted in a while-- i've been pretty busy lately;

  • Got my 40th delivery
  • Finished a 10 week stint on Labour ward
  • Completed and passed my first set of double modules which got me;
  • An invitation to do Honours, with next semester's fee covered by the university :D

2010 is going to be a big year for me and even busier than the last. I have so much to do;

  • Get some more work experience- GP, F1/2 shadowing and Consultant Anaesthetist shadowing
  • Sit the UKCAT exam between Jun-Aug
  • Complete and pass highly- my 2nd set of double modules
  • Write my personal statement and have the whole application ready to go by the end of August.
  • Qualify as a Midwife in August... only 7 months to go!!
  • Apply to the Midwifery bank and/or for a PT job as a Midwife to fund my honours dissertation year.
  • And hopefully attend a Medical School interview by the time the year is out.

I'm so excited for this year, I just hope it ends on a high !!!
